October 9th to 18th 2011 fish report

Ed, John, Hugo, Allen, and Carl fill the freezers again with quality fish!  Water temp 80 - 82. Lost the first three days to rough water then flattened out nicely. Started out with big roosterfish at Punta Prieta, Al's first ever at 50+lbs! Wide open roosters at the mine with a couple dorado mixed in. Carl caught a beautiful Sailfish at Isla Tortuga at 380 feet deep. He was using an 8oz weight to get it down. All yellowtail this trip caught at Tortuga. Brothers Hugo and Allen from Hinkley double teamed a nice stripped marlin. We spotted the birds diving with the dolfins 2 miles East of the mine and put out our Ballyhood lures. We hooked the Marlin as soon as we got to the birds. Nice variety again; Marlin, Sailfish, Roosterfish, Yellowtail, Dorado, Bass, Baracuda, Bonita, Catfish, Grouper, Corvina, Bigeye and other mystery fish. More dolphins, whales and turtles. Baja is beautiful.

If anyone wants a Marlin right now is the time!

Sept 23th to October 3rd 2011

Six of us this trip, Ed, Dave, Kerry, Matt, Dave Cruz, and Shawn.

Water temp mid 80's. Good variety as usuall, dorado on the surface and yellowtail deep at the 110 and 160 spot.
Dave got a hammerhead shark and Matt and Shawn both got amberjack at 174 feet deep.
The roosterfish action was crazy wide open this trip.
We caught roosters with Ballyhood Dorado Snaggers at 11 MPH. We caught roosters in the marina and at the Island off the rocks.
but the real wide open action was north at Punta Prieta.
When your bait hits the water it's 2 seconds and you're on!

Trying to put a trip together for November. 3 of us now, room for 2 more.

July 26th to August 4th fish report

Ed, Cory, Armando, Austin, Fred and Dennis target dorado out of Santa Rosalia.
Water temp 84-87. A couple of rough water days then flattened out nicely.
Caught the first Roosterfish of the season this trip, right where they are supposd to be.
Armando battled a 30 pounder for an hour on a shimano calcutta and 20lb mono. All revived and released.
Fred and Armando landed a couple of 15lb yellows at the "190" but just couldn't stop the big ones!
One morning we had our Dorado limits by 8AM. We Used Dorado Slammer lures from Ballyhood to locate them and cut squid to bring the schools to the boat.
More dolfins, whales, manta rays and turtles. Baja is beautiful.

Another great trip to Baja! June 17th to June 29th

Ed Duitsman, Cory Duitsman, Dave Turner, Scott Dewald, and the Delzell family, Carl, Pricella, Karen and Timmy.

Water temp 79-82 out of Santa Rosalia The best dorado fishing in years, easy limits. One evening caught 15 dorado under one padi. Another day  we had such a frenzy going on we hand fed them.( after limits on board) Two minutes after we feed all of our live macks to the dorado we spotted a huge marlin finning. With no bait left I threw a jig at it but no deal. Caught big yellowtail on jigs 120feet at San Marcos Isla and at Tortuga Isla. 30 to 40lbs. At Tortuga I  had a marlin follow my mirralure right to the boat then turn and take Carl Delzell's live bait. Carl fought it for 10 minutes and lost it under the prop. Slow trolling, Dave Turner hooked the next marlin for a good 30 minute fight.  8'7" The squid are in thick. Filled 2 freezers again.

Great trip, going back for more next week July 7th  and will back around July 18th.

July, August, September and October are full but November and January still open.

April 13th to April 19th Fish Report

Ed Duitsman, John Duitsman, Dave Turner and Bob Selby. Great time for the big yellowtail at Tortuga Island. Water is cooler and the fish were on the surface close to shore. Slow trolling Spanish macks in 30 to 50 feet. Four days at Isla Tortuga for 34 yellowtail and 7 Leopard grouper. All nice fish from 20 to 30lbs. On the windy days we caught limits of baracuda and smaller yellowtail just out of the marina for the smoker.(5 per person per day) Some of the fish caught on this trip. yellowtail, leopard grouper, Golden grouper, bass, baracuda, lizardfish, croaker, mackeral, bigeye, and other mystery fish. We brought back two full freezers for 400lbs of fillets this trip, PRICELESS. Roads are good, people are friendly and Baja is beautifull!

Next scheduled trip June 17th 2011

October 2010 fish report.

September 27th to Oct 5th with Ed Duitsman, Randy Christensen, Carl Delzell and Curtis Delzell. This was a trip of variety starting with a catfish to everyones surprise. Some of the fish caught on this trip. Sailfish, dorado, roosterfish, yellowtail, amberjack, leopard grouper, bonita, skipjack, bass, baracuda, needlenose, white sea bass, sculpin, Catfish, lizardfish, croaker, mackeral, bigeye, puffer, eel and other mystery fish. Water temp between 82-85. Excellent visibility for snorkeling. Caught roosterfish and dorado north off of Punta Prieta. Huge roosterfish of the rocks at San Marcos Island, with some dorado mixed in. Sailfish at Tortuga great fun, awesome to see jumping. landed 5 for some great pictures and kept one. All about 9ft and150+lbs. Lost 5 or 6 marlin on short 80lb test leaders. We were fishing for yellowtail with only 5ft long leaders, and the marlin were cutting us off above the leader with the sharp bill. One Marlin took my vertical jig just 30 ft under the boat and came strait up jumping for us all to see. Big yellowtail also at Tortuga if you could get through the bonita, big skipjack, sailfish and marlin. Smaller yellowtail and amberjack south of San Marcos Island. Caught 5 leopard grouper one morning at a new spot and lost 10 more because of the rocks and light gear.

Next trip April 11th 2011.
We will be targeting yellowtail.
