September 2010 fish report.
Report for September 8th to 16th with Ed, John, Kathy, Holly, Cory and Lee Tabor.
Water temp between 83-85. Excellent visibility for snorkeling and scuba diving.
Caught roosterfish and dorado north off of Punta Prieta. All the huge roosterfish
you want off the rocks at San Marcos Island, with some dorado mixed in. Sailfish at Tortuga
great fun, awesome to see jumping. Hooked 8 and landed 3 for some great pictures.
Big yellowtail also at Tortuga if you could get through the bonita. Lots of smaller 10lb yellowtail
at San Marcos Island.
Easy bait at the marina, 30 big eyes in 10 mins.
people came all the way from San Bruno to get bait there.
August 2010 fish report.
The Baja house "CASA DORADO" is in great shape, finished 2nd floor
master bed and bathroom. 24 hour power and AC in every room!
In the marlin picture is my daughter Holly Duitsman and myself. We caught it together.
Could not have caught it without her. She drove the boat and kept the marlin in position
for over 2 hours. It took us 5 miles out to sea before we landed it. Took some quick
pictures and released it.
Lots of whales and playful dolphins and seals
All the roosterfish you want, great fun along the rocks. Live bait or trolling.
Dorado everyone's favorite, live bait on the surface at the weeds and trolling feathers.
Marlin and sailfish spotted every day, 2 hooked and one landed for pictures.
I think we could get a lot more if we tried. We were towing my wife and daughter on
the tube only 1.5 miles out of the marina when we spotted a marlin on the surface.
I tossed it a live big eye and hook up! I told my wife pull yourself in we got a marlin!
She was a great sport and even got in in time to video the jumping, awesome video!
Used a 7 ft Ugly Stick and Shimano Torium loaded with 300 yards of 50lb Spiderwire,
80lb 6 feet mono leader and size 4/0 circle hook.
One day Ed Hogan from San Bruno, Cory and I took a long 75 mile boat ride north to
Isla San Pedro Martir. This is the most remote Island in the Sea of Cortez. It is probably
great fishing but we couldn't take the extreme birds, flies and seals. These birds
( brown boobies) attacked everything like a horrer movie, Our bait, weights, line
and the poles in our hands were attacked.
Water temp 80 to 85 pushed the yellowtail
190 feet deep to cooler water. We wouldn't even try cause none of my kids wanted to
pull one up 190 feet!
The new marina is very nice, great to cool off in the shaded pool
after a day on the water.
Next trip Sept 7th got room for 5. I'll drive from Barstow.
All you need is a passport and get in my car.

June 25th to July 7th 2010 fish report.
Ed Duitsman, Holly Duitsman, Cory Duitsman, Bob Selby, Dave Turner
and the new guy to Baja, Carl Delzell.
Had lots of work to do on the new house "Casa Dorado". Started on the 2nd floor.
Carl stepped up as gourmet chef only after 2 days of Ed's sardine sandwiches.
The water temp while we were there dropped from 85 to 74 due to the hurricanes in the gulf.
The yellowtail were there and big. 25 to 35lbs landed, to many to count lost big fish on 40lb and 50lb line.
Dave alone in 2 days lost 10 big ones.
Still early and cold for the dorado, but Carl got one on our last day.
The jumping Manta rays always a good show.

April 2010 fish report.
Ed Duitsman, John Duitsman, Cory Duitsman, Dave Turner and Bob Selby
Friday April 9th
2010 lots of Bass south side of San Marcos Isla but couldn’t find the yellowtail any where around the Island.
Saturday 10th
we went to Isla Tortuga off the North lighthouse.
It was fantastic action. We had our Mexican limits of 15 by noon.
Good quality, nothing under 20lbs. Dad's big one got away, 100lb grouper?
Sunday 11th
Just Dave Turner and Ed Duitsman went back to Tortuga. More Yellowtail action, 8 big ones by noon.
We were up close to the north lighthouse again in 70 to 100 feet of water.
Then we decided to have some fun with barracuda on the way back. Dave has a great way to smoke them if you
get them on ice and cleaned fast enough.
lots of dolphin and the squid are just starting to arrive.
Spent a few more days working on the house, looking better every trip.
Roads are good, scenery beautiful and no trouble at all.

Sept 14th to 29th.
John Duitsman, Edward Duitsman,
Tim Duitsman, Ben Duitsman and Ron Lange.
Hurricane Jimena hit Santa Rosalia, San Lucas, San Bruno and Mulege hard the first week of Sept so we didn't know what to expect.
We delivered 21 hand made quilts and funds from Orphan Grain Train. Friends donated soap, shampoo, food, fresh fish, shoes, clothes, lumber, nails and roofing materials. Thanks to many who gave, especially Concordia Lutheran in Barstow, Ira Gwin, Duitsman family, Walt and Linda Lamora, and Lutheran World relief. Our biggest project was the repair of the roofs on the buildings at the La Roca Rehab Center in Santa Rosalia.
The pastor in charge was deeply gratefull.
We did get our boat "DAYCARE" launched in San Lucas Cove because the marina and ramp in Santa Rosalia were destroyed. The harbor and marina are filled with mud, rocks, refridgerators, cars and other trash.
Fishing was great as usual in this area. Water temp 83 to 86F. Ben caught his first Sailfish,
we video taped the whole fight , sorry no pics can't do both and release it alive.
